    Building a collection
I wanted some opinions about het's! If you wanted to build a collection but really couldn't afford to buy some morphs but can afford to buy a pair of hets! Do you think it's a good investment! I want to build up a great collection and start a few different projects.

SO BP.NET LET ME HEAR SOME OF YOUR OPINIONS!

    THANKS IN ADVANCE

I started building my collection with co-dom, and dominate animals because of the price difference.... If you want to work with hets I would buy a few female hets, and save fer a few years and buy a visual male......Gives you a whole lot better odds..... Depending what you like though, you cant go wrong with a few female pastels.......

RoyalContrictor has a few group packages that I like. For instance Het Albino's for 165, When the het female is 150. Why not spend the extra 15 bucks. Just like their Het Hypos. I just want to try to build a nice collection. I'm going to buy some Dom's and CoDoms as well:D:D:D

There's nothing wrong with starting with hets but if you can IMO the way to go is to purchase 1 or 2 female hets and then in the first year sometime pick up a co-dom het or a visual male depending on what your trying to create :)
By the time the female(s) are 2 yrs old the male will be a year old and both hopefully ready to breed.

Get female hets from a reliable source and a visual male. Breeding het to het by no means guarantees you a visual morph which to me would be quite frustrating after 2-3yrs of work raising them. Breeding het to het is also going to give you a bunch of possible hets which are no fun either. When working with recessives breed visuals to hets if possible.... if you can't afford both snakes snakes now then pick up a female het to start raising up and get a visual male down the road.

    Thanks,

But do you still take a chance for a expensive snake like Piebald. I'm interested in Pieds but i don't know if i will have $1000 for one in the future. So would that be a safe gamble or no?

out of curiosity why is it bad to have a het male? I have a 100% het male albino... I was planning on getting an albino female.. why is that bad??

    THanks

From what I'm getting is that you have better odds with having a morph with the het vs having 2 hets. maybe someone will clairfy it more that just what i was getting!

makes sense, but if i have an ALBINO female like not het is it the same odds as if i had a male ALBINO and a female HET?? or is there better odds with female? im confused..
