    Rack Question...
Going to buy the wood at lowes tomorrow and wanted to ask should i go 35in ches across or 24inches accross..35inches holds 41qt and 24inches accross holds 32qt and 15qt tubs so what tub would i use for the medium tubs if i went with the 35inches accross. Two more question where should i put the heat on the back wall or on the top of the shelf.and what kind of heat should i use im afraid of the heat tape on the shelf because when u pull the tubs in and out wont the heat tape break or tear....need some advice im ready to build..thank you.

I am doing the same thing.. what I am doing is making it big enough for 41 qt since ill have balls and corns.. I'm having the heat tape run down the left side so that the hot spot for my tubs will be left side... heat tape is nice, from what I have read/watched, just use a little aluminum foil tape to hold it down...

Are you using melamine, or plain wood?

I just got my heat tape from RBI and they were AMAZING!!! I just sent him the specs of the rack we built and he told me exactly what pieces I'd need to order and had it all perfect for me when it was delivered!! We're using aluminum tape to hold it down and even though our racks are super snug we haven't had any problems so far

I was going to order mine from reptile basics.. I here a few diff places. I too will he using melamine, I'm looking at 150 for everything. I'm running into troubles with the width of the board... its 16 inches and all 41qt tubs I can find are bigger than that. So I'm going to have to extend the shelves a inch or so so that my tubs can fit in all the way...

I'm thinking of using lids though, just to be safe.

You can go topless if building a rack, you will not regret it especially if using 41qt tubs.:D

yeah, we went topless and I can't even imagine not. Trying to fully remove a tub to take the lid off would be a hassle!!

If you have bigger snakes, I would go with the 41qt. As for the heat tape, I would go on the shelf for belly heat. Aluminum foil tape will hold it down just fine. I have a two racks, one with back heat (from RBI) and one with belly heat (I built). I think I prefer the belly heat. RBI is a great place to order it from. I just order some more Monday morning and got it yesterday.
And topless is the way to go!
