rescued snake with burn

I just was given a adult normal ball python from a co-worker who's son, who in her words was not responsible with the snake . The snake has a large burn under its belly . He told me it was from one of those friggen rock heaters. What can I do to heal this lil guy ? Neosporin? Anything like that . But aside from the burn the snake seems healthy and has eaten . So it seems like it'll be healthy. I just wanna heal the burn.

I'm really not sure, but I'd think Neosporin wouldn't hurt, and that maybe after a couple sheds will be back to normal. Curious to see what others say, though.

I did a quick search and found a spray that is made by Zoo Med that you could try. Although I would bet that Neosporin might work as well. And if possible a trip to the vet might be in order. But I'm far from experienced, that is just what I could find with a google search.

Could you post a picture of the burn possibly? You may need to take it to a vet.

I can't post a pic but its made some scales black and it looks like one scale is even missing

Is there exposed skin? Burns can be nasty wounds. Silver Sulfadiazine is a really great topical treatment for burns. It is what we used at bird rescue. But you may want to have the animal checked out.

Agreed with Kelly....Silver sulfadiazine. I've treated quite a few burns (I'm not an idiot, I do rescues:) ), and if there is dead tissue around the burn, you will need to remove it. You can use a warm, damp washcloth and gently just rub it off. Once you are sure the wound is clean and there is no dead tissue, apply the SS cream. You will also need to remove scabs, so the cream gets to the skin it's helping regrow. I would to this twice a day at first, until it starts growing nice pink tissue. You will need to be careful when removing dead tissue, if there is any. You don't want to remove any new tissue growth. Once you notice new tissue growth, you can back off to once a day. Sheds will help, but sheds will stick around edges and will need to be removed if this happens. It's a long process, but unless there is infection, the snake should be fine. And OH, I hate those heat rocks......only good use for them is to cut the cord off and use it for a paperweight:(

Ok thanks. The snake has no blisters ,just some black burns and the one scale missing.
I don't even understand how those heat rocks are legal. There dangerous to the snake and the owner .
