    psycho feeding female?????
i'm looking for an idea as to whats going on here. i have a 1400 gram normal female that acts like she's starving to death. she would eat everyday if i let her. as soon as you start to open her door she will stand up and come for your fingers and strike, even right after she finished swallowing. she took 3 rats one right after the other about 2 weeks into this behavior. i just wanted to see if she was really that hungry or if she was developing some cage aggression. (i feed asf's).

she just started this about 6 weeks ago. after a few mins of her door being open and she doesn't get fed she's as tame as she ever was. i'm hoping for some advice on what to do. i feed her every 5 days, should i stay on this or should i kick it up a notch. is she trying to tell me something, or is she just a pig that needs to be regulated?

Sounds to me like you've just got a female with an awesome feeding response. Sometimes individuals will have super strong feeding responses, like my little guy. If she isn't losing weight and is just a pig, there's nothing to worry about, but if she's acting hungry all the time and starts to lose some weight, it could be a sign of internal parasites, so just keep an eye on her weight for a while.

It's that time of year. Her hormones are telling her to eat anything that moves in order to have the resources needed for breeding and laying eggs.
