    No, With the amount of time, effort, and modification it would take to convert a house thermostat into one suitable for heat pads, you would be better off just getting one already made for it. I'm not a master electrician but the house thermostat you linked looks like it runs on 240v...

    I'm going to say NO! Besides, how would you use a probe with that. If you are on a tight budget, you may want to look into Johnson's Controls or Ranco ETC-111000. If thats still to much then look at this. http://www.bigappleherp.com/BAH-1000-Thermostat
    You really do not want to skimp on the thermostat, your snakes lives depend on it.

    The unit has to be in the enclosure and it only reads ambient air temp and not ground temp. Unless you can connect a probe, it would not be practical!
