This tank too small?

So ever since i changed Mitch to a paper towel substrate he dosent want to eat... So i tried putting him in the 40gal tank. But it didnt work still. So i put him in the 20 gal. Hes got an UTH. Humidity is 55%. 2 hides etc. But it just looks so small. No room to hunt mice or move. What do you guys think i should do? Heres a pic. Mitch is around 200g.

Looks good to me. I actuallly have some 800 gram males in 16 qts, its just what works for them.

16qts?!? that is small.

Tubs normally only have a water bowl and a hide.
6 qt - up to 200 grams
16 qt - 201-500
28 qt - 501-1200
41 qt - 1201+

But all snakes are different my lesser is only 200 grams and she was bumped up to a 16 qt at 150 due to her always exploring and her ability to keep eating.

But what you missing is tubs are more floor space vs height as well as water bowls are ALOT smaller because of no screen lids. The saying is the safer they feel the better. They like cramped areas and trust me they have room to eat and if not they will make room as they toss around trying to eat.

Also you should have gotten a 20 gallon LONG it looks that yours is the 20 gallon fish bowl one.

That's fine for him. Maybe even a little big. If he still won't eat, try a 6 qt tub. :)

So should i put him in a 6 qt tub just to eat? then put him in his tank? or use a 6 qt tub full time? because i have seen 6 qt tubs at home depot for 99cents. They are like shoe boxes...

Add more hides? Lots more. throw in some old kleenex boxes and cardboard tube for him.

It sounds like you're doing a lot of changes because you're fretting about his not eating, and you're not allowing him to get settled into his new home before you're changing things again.

Don't handle him - let him get settled, wait a couple of weeks to get good and hungry and then offer him food.

In the meantime, to help him settle - fill his enclosure with loosely crumpled newspaper. It will allow him to feel something touching him on all sides and will help him to feel more secure. You can then drop an appropriately sized prey item into the enclosure (newspaper and all), after he's had at LEAST a week to settle in and leave the room. Check back in 30 minutes and the prey item should be gone. You can then start to slowly "wean" him off the newspaper by removing a piece every few days.

Cardboard molds for one and the snake could get stuck in the paper towel roll.
Stick with plastic.
