Re: To dink, or not to dink?
why is it pretty clear that his look is genetic?
what u do after u prove something a morph?- breed him to other morphs... breed him to another one of that morph and see if theres a superform.
but honestly- it does take years to prove something genetic and to tell how he passes his trait on (rez., dom or co dom). now u have an oddball- not a genetic morph!
u have to do alot of breedings before calling him genetic. just from the look u cant say hes genetic (or better said- its a morph)

Because his dam has the same look, as do at least half a dozen other snakes who are his clutchmates and siblings and "cousins".
But even if that weren't the case... if you saw this guy and he weren't poss het pied and didn't have the markers... would you take a second look at him and think about dinker projects? Or just say "nice reduced normal" and move on?
Re: To dink, or not to dink?
Honestly? I don't see much that's really unique about his looks. Lots of normals throw other normals that look like the sire or dam - it doesn't necessarily make them anything other than a normal (or a het).
However, he does look a lot like het pieds I've seen with the side patterns that bleed up from the sides.

The latter. He's a really nice little reduced pattern and perhaps if he were female I'd have bought just because I like reduced girls, but as far as a dinker male I'd pass.
No reason you can't pair him with a female het and see if you can't prove him out for pied, though. :gj:

i produced some het pieds last year with the exact same type of markings. i'd be willing to bet(not much;)) that he is het pied. but that would be all i think he is. just het pied. certainly no reason IMO to call him a dinker. you already know he's more than likely het pied. thats probably all you'd be able to prove outta him. get you a 100% het pied girl and see what happens. good luck
Re: To dink, or not to dink?
i say the same as anyone before. thats why i asked the question. to call something genetic need much work and often years.
hes a nice normal- maybe het pied. but nothing i would call a dinker- or even genetic...
