Fridge or Freezer? Rejected F/T
Hello all, just got another new BP. Shes been eating live mice. I feed all my snakes frozen/thawed rats. The new bp rejected the f/t rat. Should I refreeze or should I throw it in the fridge and just warm it up again tomorrow for 2nd try?
I'm not sure if it works like ground beef..haha. when I defrost ground beef I never refreeze what i dont cook, but I do throw it in the fridge for a meal the next day. Same deal here or no? Advice please?!?!
Also any tricks to try in converting her from live prey to f/t? I know its probably too early anyway as shes most likely still adjusting to her knew home. Just askin for later. Thanks for everyones help in advance!
Re: Fridge or Freezer? Rejected F/T
I would not refreeze it after the second feeding attempt if your snake rejects it again. It sounds like your snake just needs a few days to settle in also. I have a snake that eats f/t and one that only takes live right now. I thaw mine out in hot tap water in a baggie. When it is ready to be presented to the snake I give it a quick zap in the head with a hair dryer. I then proceed to shake it around on the feeding tongs in front of the snake and then he strikes and coils.

It it doesn't eat it, garbage.
Bacteria begins to multiply on that food item the second it's no longer frozen.
I toss them or offer to someone else.
