    All Black....
    Hello,
So I have been breeding my Soft furs for about 1.5 years now and only did so to feed my breeders and have since been tinkering to see how and what they produce color wise and pattern wise...i.e. the pied balls.

To my surprise I purchased about 200 more and received a few I had never seen before. They were all black with a stripe down the face and the tails were pink and black almost resembling a dalmatian pattern.

I crossed these with my prior stock to implement new blood as I usually do every 3 months. I ended up getting a bunch of the same looking animals as usual as well as a few that looked identical to the new stock I mentioned above that I just received.

Now I took all the offspring and line bred the dark blacks back to each other. to my surprise I produced all black soft furs and all females on top of that. One female dropped 14 and they are all female. Another dropped only 6 unless eaten and they are all female as well. SO with that said I got curious and went to town cleaning and inspecting all my tubs in the rack. Out of 33 females that are all black and offspring of the same litter bred back to their siblings 24 females produced all blacks various in numbers but none the less all the pups are females.

I don't know if this has happened to anyone else ever. I was excited just to have the all blacks which I have never seen. I am not talking about the cobalt looking gray Agouti looking ASF's these are black as night and have black tails as well some even have dalmatian patterning across body of black and white now.

Anyway I will get pics up as soon as I get my Camera back from a family member. I would love to hear if anyone else has ever had an occurence like this happen to them as well as if I am just behind and their are black soft furs out their in abbundance. Thanks for your time J

That's pretty odd. I don't breed asf's but I'm really interested in seeing pics of the all blacks!

Neat I can't wait to see the pics!
I've been wanting to get some different colored ones to work with too.

    Wow,
I would love to see some pictures. I am also trying to tinker with the colors and variations. I think their is a lot more going on with these little guys than we think.
Good luck with the all Black!!!

I'd be interested in seeing photos. Several people have claimed to have made black ASFs, and I still haven't seen one. :P

But black is an agouti mutation, so it wouldn't surprise me to find some. :)

Still no pictures? They probably molted into normal agouti coats. :P
