    Incubator temp question
I have my incubator setup and been running for a couple days, I built it out of a glass front beverage fridge, Its got a fan mounted to the top, 11" flex watt, Herpstat probs hanging on the middle shelf. Herpstats set to 88.5. But when a take a temp reading with my temp gun on the top of the vermiculite it sayes about 91-92. But when I pull the lid all the way off it slowly drops to 85-86 Is that normal? What should I do? Should I drop the herpstat 2 degrees or raise it? What do you guys think is up

Any help/thoughts is very much appreciated. =]

Heres a pic of it before I got the fan mounted

Have you allowed it to run for a couple days to establish the temps? If not give it a couple days then check it :gj:

Lol....just messing with yah, yea its actually be running for a about a week and a half. Now that I think about it...just been so busy its felt like its only been up for a couple days. =]
I did a vermiculite temp check just now and it like mid/high 91 almost 92 on top and if I dig down to the middle/bottom its like lows 90's to high 89's. Im just trying to get it squared away because Im starting to pair 2 of my snakes. =]. Is the top hotter because the heats rising? Should I drill some holes in it, would that let all my humidity out?

I think with a bator that large, you may need a fan on bottom also to help circulate the warm air for more stable temps.

I thought about that, I was going to ad another to the top but one on the bottom would make a little more since, which direction would you mount it, blowing up or down?
