Re: Snakes and other pets
Well... I dont have my rats anymore
But in all seriousness, I moved my snakes to a friends and have had them out around her pets (2 cats, a dog, and bird) and neither of them pay attention what so ever.
Re: Snakes and other pets
I handle my king on the bed and my dog gets on her hind legs to look at the snake, as long as the dog doesn't cause the bed to shake when she gets on it the snake is fine. I have not "formally" introduced them yet since I don't trust the dog and definitely not cat!
Re: Snakes and other pets
My cats FREAK when the snakes come out. I have to be careful when feeding because 1. The cats love boxes and 2. I don't want the cats to hurt the snakes.
The dogs just get jealous because they aren't the ones getting the attention.
I should be careful though... from what I hear BP's will eat my cats HAHA!
Re: Snakes and other pets
I don't even allow my cat in the same room as my snakes. As for my dog, she is very curious and just licks the snakes.
Re: Snakes and other pets
I have 3 cats and 1 dog, who all react differently to the snakes. My dog is fairly protective of them, as he's a herding breed (Cattle Dog?) who wants to guard anything smaller than himself. But if the snakes get too close, he'll simply get up and walk away - mostly because I gave a firm "leave it" command the first time they met.
As for the cats, let's just say it's not a good combination... particularly with my youngest one, who would most definitely think they were toys. On the flip-side, once she strolled past while I was filling a corn's water dish, and the snake SPRANG out of her tub & bit the kitty! Scared the heck outta me, but the cat barely noticed - and the snake got a mouth full of hair from the "attack." I do try to keep all mammals away from the snakes, but it's tough since they live in my bedroom.
Re: Snakes and other pets
Our male BP couldn't care less unless he's shedding and our husky [or anyone for that matter] gets too close to his tank then he'll just hiss in complaint. Our female BP however gets into staring contests with our husky. Our bearded dragon and husky just like to inspect each other occasionally though we have to watch the husky because she has tried to eat each of our reptiles.
