Looking for thoughts on Breeder loan
I have read some threads about people doing breeder loans. I am planning on starting to breed next season but my little pastel won't be ready this season. I have a friend who bread last season and will be again this season and I am thinking about asking him if he'd be interested in a breeder loan this season with one of his males and my normal girl. So yeah I'm looking for thoughts and suggestions if I were to do it, also I'd love to hear from nay sayers.
Re: Looking for thoughts on Breeder loan
ide have to aggree with RichsBallPythons, no need to rush on that project. i do have breed loans going on on. it really comes down to a trust issue. joe and i do not have any paper work to record the loan. but weve know each other for a while. if your doing a loan with someone you dont know that well ide put it in writing.
Re: Looking for thoughts on Breeder loan
It was something I just thought of today and it wouldn't be to a pastel it would be to a mojave, but I don't think I'm going to do it was just a thought and wanted some feedback. If there are others feel free to continue to comment.
Re: Looking for thoughts on Breeder loan
Everybody can be friends till money gets involved...... I am not trying to be rude, a big female norm breeding to a mojo can make you both a little money if your lucky(it will be fun and the experience never hurts...thats the most important part on something like this...) But just so friends can stay friends and there are no hard feelings get whatever you agree to written down and sighned by the both of you...... It is ultimatly what ever the 2 of you are okay with, but having a simple contract is just to keep anyone from feeling like they were done dirty... just my $.02
Re: Looking for thoughts on Breeder loan
If you move forward - ESPECIALLY amongst friends, good friends, a contract is highly recommended. Nothing worse than a mis-understanding to destroy a friendship.
My contracts have always outlined the replacement value of the animal that's not in the original owner's care, should it die in the other person's care and the length of time needed to pay that restitution.
What happens if your large female were to die in your friend's care? What do you place as her replacement value? Who's going to be responsible for vet care if your animal gets sick in your buddy's care? All those things need to be spelled out in the contract if you decide to move forward.
