Does anyone know about mtn bikes

I am 6'7 and am looking to buy a bike. Anyone know about sized frame and suspension I will need. also Im 290 there for im worried about the suspension wearing out and if it is entirely worthless to get a mtn bike or if i should buy a reg street bike. I would appreciate any input. thanks alot brandon

Do you mean motorcycle bike? Or bicycle bike? LOL This answer MIGHT apply to both, but I know for sure it applies to bicycles. I don't know the specific details you need...but I DO know that if you go to professional bike shop, they have folks there especially trained to help make sure you get a perfect fit for your bike...frame size, type, seat, seat height, handlebar adjustments, peddles, and suspension. All very critical stuff to have fit properly for long-term enjoyment.

Don't get a carbon bike...they're expensive and they break. What exactly do you want to do with the bike?

i want to ride it on EASY trails and then to school. thats all its A BIKE BIKE. i know i just get like a used car salesmen vibe from the bike shops up here because the sport is popular in this area. thank you for the advice i guess ill just look at a store lol

If you're not riding off road, mountain bikes are not a good idea, especially suspended ones. All that suspension does on pavement is soak up some of your power when you try to accelerate. Also, a proper road bike has lower rolling resistance and a taller top gear, meaning that your overall speed is much better. I used to do a 13 mile (one way) commute on a bike, and when I switched from a mountain bike to a road bike, it cut my average time by 10-15 minutes. Needless to say, I was impressed, and I'll never go back unless I get into some serious off-road stuff.
