    need help
i got a male boa constrictor about 5 feet long 6 or so weeks ago. the owner only fed him once a month if not every 2 months, his body is basicaly square shaped. now its been 6 or 7 weeks since his last feeding. he wont touch live or pre killed. barely even shows interest in the rats i offer, ive tried all sizes except pups and pinkies. im getting ready to give up and pass him off to the next guy because i dont think i can handle assisted feeding on such a large snake. he seems healthy, no weezing noises when he breaths, no mouth or belly rot. he just wont eat and i dont know what to do. how do i get my snake to eat? i dont want to give up on him cause big snakes usualy end up dead in wisconsin but i cant handle a large snake that wont eat. what do i do?

Find out what the guy before was feeding him. And also give him time to adjust to his new home stress alone can cause a snake not to feed.

P.s. don't pawn this animal off on someone else that's just mean and unfair to the community and also gives fellow herpers a bad reputation. If you got him from s breeder ask the breeder if you can refund the animal and getbyour money back or swap it for another animal.

i wouldnt be giving him to someone without explaining the situation, hes had 6 weeks to adjust. i just broke 4 bones in my foot and am having a hard time dealing with this, i have many other snakes, like 25 breeding rats, 6 gerbils and 2 rabbits. i love my snakes but they cant be a chore right now cause im just unfit to handle it and will be for another 2 months if all goes well. i spoke with the owner and he fed him small rats that he bred himself, i cant think of why he bred them with feedings so few and far between. he pre killed them wich i have been doing and ended up throwing out. i need ideas on how to get his appetite going, i prescent for about 20 min, even put a small fan on the rats toward his enclosure so i know he smells it. what else can i do to get him going?

alright well i just tried to feed him a live small rat. he seemed pretty interested and scoped it out quite a few times but every time he got close he just hissed at the thing. pretty sure im gonna keep trying live prey, best responce so far out of that and i dont have to throw them away every time since hes in quarentine. still need as many suggestions as possible as to how i can get this turdly snake to eat. if i have to assist feed him, how would i go about doing it with such a large snake? probably a month beforen i try that
