    Lids or no lids?
I’m looking for your opinions on whether or not most of you use lids or not on your bins in a rack system. I’m pretty confident that for larger animals that as long as the bin fits tightly into the rack that it should be quite secure, but I’m a little concerned that for baby animals that even the smallest of gaps between the tub and the shelf may allow for escape. As I’m sure most of you know balls are among the greatest escape artist of the snake world. Years ago I had an bp escape his bin, peel back the heavy screen that I had nailed over a heat vent to the floor and then somehow cross over the vertical shaft that led to the furnace only to be found at the other end of house in a heat duct that I had to cut a hole in to find him. Any opinions on whether to use lids for adults or hatchlings would be very helpful

No lids here, would defeat the purpose of rack being practical.

Imagine having to open a lid and close it back every time you do maintenance or feed X however many snakes you have ;) and compare it to slide open a tub and slide back to close.

With a few snake I can see it but with a larger collection just not practical.

I would say no lids for large snakes. Now, with colubrids, I would say until they are adult size, lids. That's what I'm definitely doing if I have a properly sized rack.
