My Ball has become more active... anyone else have this happen?
I have had my ball almost a year now. He has always staied in his hides... well at least 90% of the time. The only time he would ever come out is at night or he would just poke his head out during the day. It almost as if he was just putting his head out to be involved with what every was going on.

The last 3 weeks though he has been very active. As soon as my wife and come home he comes out of his hide and hangs out on his stick. I have his tank covered with a screen and half the screen is covered with a large magnet to help keep one side of the tank warmer. He likes to look out of the side that isnt covered. Its almost as if he is wanting me to take him out or he is getting fresh air...

I am wondering if he is just more confortable now and that is why he comes out more or could he be stressed?

My wife and I are getting ready to buy him a larger tank because he is starting to grow out of his current tank. Not sure if this has anything to do with it either.

    Anyone experience this?

As they get older, mine do get more used to human activity around their tank at night, and they tend to come out more in the evenings rather than after we go to bed.

And I actually have seen iguanas that know how to get attention by scratching at their screens whenever a human walks by. Typically they either want food, or to be let out. I suppose it's not impossible that really a well-socialized ball python could actually be trying to communicate that it wants something it knows you provide, but ultimately failing because we all know ball pythons aren't that smart, and it has no limbs for scratching at the screen...

Most of my BP's right now are confused, and think they all belong in trees. I like to have pretty trees in the tanks that I have up, and they all like to hang out in them. Except my oldest girl, who only comes out in the evening. Also, its just about feeding day, and EVERYONE gets more active at this time.

Every time I walk by my bps tank he pokes his head out of his hide, and sometimes rushes out. Its cute. Its either a "Whoa whats going on?!".... "FOOD?!".... or "Hi"
I want to know if they do search for females when they reach a certain age.
Where are all the bp pros at?
