    Wierd Question?
im filling out applications for college and one of the essays prompts says "pick an extra curricular activity, work experience, or community service project and write about why you chose to do it, why you continued with it , and how youve benefitted by it" which brings me to my question
Does keeping ball pythons count as an extra curricular activity or a work experience ?
thanks for any comments or suggestions

Well to be honest, I don't think it can really count as an extracurricular activity or work experience. However If you were a breeder I would say use that as an extracurricular activity and work experience.
    Sorry :/
College Essay promts are always lame.

I would have to agree. Sorry. Here's an example - I have had dogs my whole life. If I just had them as pets, then that's just my pets, my lifestyle, etc. BUT, I showed my dogs in 4H in obedience and agility and kept meticulous records, including health, throughout my time with them and eventually competed for and won the 4H state dog award. THAT would be considered a valuable extra curricular activity and/or work experience.

So again, just keeping BPs, even a fine collection, wouldn't "count" if all you did was keep them. You'd have to be doing something with them and have the records to prove it. Just my thoughts....

    Good luck! ;)

I know where your coming from when you like snakes so much you wanna write about them in school. But with all the looks I get just talking about my snakes you may want to stray away from using them for a college topic simply because you may have a snake phobic instructor and you know how uninformed people act around the word snake... Not always a bad thing though... keeps the inlaws away :)

Unless you're breeding as a business it still wouldn't really count :/ I breed, and I sell my hatchlings, but I don't live off of it and it isn't really work experience. If you make a living on breeding you could probably use it though!

Well I think breeding classifies as an "extracurricular activity" because you do it on your free time and it takes a lot of effort.

Yeah, I'd definitely say that breeding them counts as an extra curricular activity, and if you're selling some of the offspring, then it could even count as a work experience. You don't have to be living off of the money you make from it for it to count as "work experience". I mean, you're selling them, so you have to talk to potential customers and deal with them, as well as choose prices and balance costs, etc. If I were you I would use it, because from what I'm getting from that question, it fits what they're asking for.
