Tanks vs. Tubs

'Tis a simple question, guys. Do you prefer to house your ball pythons in a tank or a tub? Why? I just wanted to see your opinions while I decide which is best to get for my snake. I figured that this would be better than just diving in, so to speak. :D

I just recently switch from tanks to tubs and I couldn't be happier! I no longer have any heat or humidity issues at all.

I have all my snakes in tanks at the moment. but it went from 2 to 7 snakes in 2 months...:D So next month Im welding a snake rack and putting them all in tubs...because I have alot of humidity issues in my house and Im running out of room for tanks. I kindof prefer tubs. It saves space, the ambient air temp stays up, humidity stays up and I think it may make them feel a little more secure IMO

I like tanks and tubs. But, I only really like tanks for certain species..

As for tubs, what I really like about em is: Light in weight, can control heat & humidity easier, comes in a ton of different sizes, have locking lids, easy to clean, not even pricey at all.

Tanks are harder to control heat & humidity, can get heavy depending on tank size, can break if dropped (LOL..), get pricier as you keep upgrading, and are more of a hassle to clean.

But, I like using tanks for display. I like designing tanks a lot more than designing tubs, it just looks better with tanks. My Beardie has a tank, my Mexican Black Kingsnake has a tank, my Dumeril's boa has a tank, and my Kenyan Sand boa has a tank (humidity was too high in the tub I put her in no matter how many holes I drilled).

I use a little bit of both, however, I do prefer tanks. I like tanks because they look nice, and are not too hard for me to maintain. The only down fall with tanks is they are expensive to set up, the cost of the logs, trees, hides, water dishes etc. but other than that, they cost the same to run as a rack. Racks are convenient and easy to clean, but I don't like them as much because they do not look nice, and don't give the snakes the opportunity to climb if they want to or just explore the most natural surroundings we can provide in captivity.

All in all, it is a personal decision as to what you want to care for your snakes in and what is easiest for you. I understand people who have lots of snakes and don't want to spend that much time cleaning them, or spend that much money setting them up, or just lack the space for tanks. Also, if they work 14-16 hour jobs everyday and just don't have the time to take care of tanks and racks are more convenient. Again, it is a personal decision and I think it is unnecessary to bicker about what is better care for the snake, in my opinion as long as they are kept clean and healthy, that is what is important.

I use both, and I like both for different reasons. Although all my ball pythons are in tubs and they seem quite content in there plus they're loads easier to clean, heat, and keep proper humidity in.

Although I now use Boaphiles as far a "tanks" go, keep humidity and heat great. plus they're big enough for adult boas.

my corn is in a tub but my ball is in a tank and well obvs my beardie is in a tank! lol beardie in a tub? :P aweeeee

ok well that helped me a lot i have my baby in a huge tank but having problems keeping the humidity up so maybe ill try a tub. i dont like how they look but to tell you the truth i dont care as long as she is comfortable ill see how it works thanks for your help
