I saw some threads of ppl with lesser snakes i think it was called, i dont know anything about snakes except that mines a ball python its green and black and possibly female cuz its has small spurs, just wanted to know what the diff is besides color and how do you get one and how big do they get?

I believe you are talking about a Lesser Platinum Ball Python sometimes called "Lessers" the only difference between them and a normal Ball Python is the colors. Here is an example of a Lesser Platinum Ball Python:http://ball-pythons.net/gallery/show...mageuser=16263

You really can't tell the sex of BP's by the size of the spurs. I have a few males with spurs that are smaller than similar sized females. Got to get em popped or probed to know.

First hello and :welcome: to our forum, now as far as sexing spurs are found on both males and females and cannot be used to determine the sex of animal.

Best way to determine the sex is by popping or probing (finding someone to show you how to do it would be best)

Now as far as your snake can you please post a picture, given the description it may or may not be a Ball Python (see highlighted part of your thread) and before making assumption I would rather see the animal.

***Edit If the snake in you gallery is your snake it is indeed a BP (not green and black though ;) ) they reach 3 to 5 feet, females being larger than males.

Yeah your talking about a Lesser Platinum or in RDR speak "Lesser Platty." They range anywhere from $200-500 depending on sex, colors, age, and size. Very cool snakes and make a great pet even if you aren't going to breed.

ok thank you and yes its the snake in my profile, and if i probe the snake my self is it possible to hurt it if ive never done it or been shown how?

Your snake would be a normal and that enclosure is going to put him/her off feed pretty quickly. You need two tight fitting hides and lots of foliage or something to cramp the big open feel of the tank up. You should take a look at the care sheet to get a general feel of what adjustments you should make.


Yes you can hurt them, so I would highly suggest you have an experienced vet or breeder probe the snake for you.

Yes you could injure your snake, if you never probed one before, I do not recommend it.

Popping would be easier however if you never done it either it could be difficult for you which is why it's best having someone showing you how to do it so you position your fingers properly and apply the right pressure.
