    Smartphone BP tracking software
I had an idea for a Ball Python tracking software aimed towards breeders that use racks. Not sure if any has something like this.
Well this software would go on your computer and have a corresponding app for the iPhone (and whatever other Smartphone that can use its camera as a barcode reader.) with this tracking software you would build a database of you BP’s and print out a individual identification sheet with a corresponding barcode on it that you would attach to the front of the tub. When you go around to check who has eaten you simply tap the tracking app button in your iPhone and tap a “feed” feature that would start up your iPhone camera and use it to scan the barcode of the BP that ate. Then the program could automatically update your database with the feeding. That way it would be easy for breeders with a large number of BP’s to keep track of who is eating.
Does anyone know of any software already like this?

Also had this idea. Degei has the software but they use physical scanners. I think all they would have to do is find a way to correspond the data from software to a iPhone app. Would be very useful. Hate keeping hand written records.

Currently working out that same idea in my head. My Idea was to use the Droid Phone as that is what I have and it has a nice built in barcode scanner. I have the site planned out that would be associated with it and a small app that can sit on your desktop as well if you dont want to use a website. Was going to post something later to see if people would actually be interested in it and then go from there.

I wonder if I could integrate into iHerp.... The brain juices are starting to flow with the addition of coffee.

It would be real nice to come up with an app for the droid. It would make life so much easier. Just need to find a coder to do it.

Well the coding shouldn't be too hard, just have to figure out what it needs to do exactly and what it may need to interface with.

You should make it so it not only is directed at big breeders but small collectors as well. I've been using a notepad app on my droid powered phone to keep track of all my animals. It would be nice to have something that was setup for tracking my pets eating/shedding/pooping schedules.

^ I use google calendar for this

On a side note, using the camera to read barcodes is crazy, like really impressive. I'm not programmer, but I'd be seriously impressed if someone had the time and resources to code something like that.
