How Fast Should My BP Grow?

I was Just wondering if anyone could give me an insight into the growth of my 2 and a half month old male BP? Thanks.

Well, I have a 4 month old that currently weighs in at 392 grams. He is pounding small f/t rats. I also have an under fed 2 or 3 year old that only weighs in at 206 grams. This one is a rescue and I am working on getting some meat on it's bones. The growth will really depend on what you are feeding and how often you are feeding. All snakes grow at different rates. You should get a scale and keep track of your baby bp's weight.

Depends. How often you feed him/her..I feed my smaller BPs every 5 days up to 300 grams and then put them on a 7 day schedule. It also depends on the BP itself. I have two 09 females that are around the same age but one is 200 or so grams larger than the other. In the winter months mine have also went off feed for several months at a time. So alot can factor into their growth.

every snake is different, I've seen babies eat the same size, and number of prey items and grow twice as fast as their clutch mates. As long as the snake isn't looking thin but has good weight then your golden.. I have 2006 animals that weigh 950 grams and I have 2006 animals that weigh 2200 grams. I have 2009 animals that weigh 1500 grams and snakes that are 2 months younger than them that don't weigh half that..I guess what I'm saying is there is no set growth rate..

I know that a lot of people have asked this before, and I understand that just like with people there are all kinds of variatiosn.

Still... with all the breeders out there I'm surprised we don't have the equivelent of that percentile height/weight chart you always used to see in the doctor's office as a kid.

Something like 90% of BP's will be at least 18 inches at 3 months and 75% will be at least 24. Or something like that.

There will always be outliers, but we could at least get a feel for what average is.

The thing is that to be honest that Length is of no importance to "Breeder's" will all the records and information we all ready keep up with to try and compile a growth chart.

It would require more than one breeder keeping a large number of animals from birth till adult and keeping the growth records month to month as well as size and weight of prey offered for each snake.. that's allot of information.. just to figure out something that to be honest isn't that important..

There is not set growth chart, the important things are that your BP is healthy, has a good body weight and is being fed an appropriate size prey once a week.

Everything else will vary from one individual to another.
