    Microchipping?
I was wondering, when people talk about microchipping their breeders are they talking about the same ones you use for dogs and cats i.e.: home again, avid etc.
I am a vet tech and I do this on a daily basis to dogs but I can't imagine doing it in a snake due only to the fact that a 14g needle is used to implant the chip.

I am interested in this for record keeping of hets etc; if someone would enlighten me I would appreciate it.

    Thanks

I have one microchipped ball python. He came chipped, so I didn't see it done--as far as I know it is exactly the same kind of chip.

I got this guy when he was a hatchling, and I thought for weeks that he had an injury or some old scar tissue next to his tail. But it was just the bulge from the microchip. Can't see it now, but it was a pretty obvious lump in a hatchling.

I've microchipped 3 big lizards(monitors/tegus). I have not done any ball pythons. I was told the animal needed to be a minimum size(2 inchs in diameter?) to be safest.

Not a vet, insert disclaimer here. I had a vet(big coward) do the chipping on the lizards. It was entertaining.

I was thinking there has to be some sort of size limit or something. I was kinda hoping there was a smaller chip. I have a client who wants to chip his tegu ( wich is a monster teddy bear, very sweet) and the whimpy vet will make me do it. lol . I just thought it would be good for breeding records. I am just a little too chicken to do it.
