Inputs?
Hi I just got an 09 Pastel Male Ball Python. Weighs about 260 grams,i got it from yundas addiction at a expo. They said to feed live mice so i picked up a small mouse and it refused to eat, next day i gave it a small Rat and it ATE!!! Now i know with cornsnakes you should see a bump but waht about with these? i mean they are already thick, heres some pics, sorry for it being long.

Re: Inputs?
My general feeding guide is I feed a rat just a bit smaller then the thickest part of my BPs body. Sometimes the same size, but I try to keep it a tad smaller

Re: Inputs?
Yeah, I generally use the "about the same size as the thickest part of the body" rule too, but the more technical rule is about 10% of a snake's body weight. So for your 260 gram snake, the prey item should weigh about 26 grams or so. If he seems really hungry, you could shorten the time between meals to 5 days and bump it up to 20% of his body weight, or 52 grams.
But yeah, you usually don't see too much of a bump with bps, and from those pictures it looks like he could handle a small rat easy. And obviously he did ;)

beasted it he looks like he could have 2 lol.

Re: Inputs?
Hello, and :welcome: to BP.net.
10%-15% of body weight. A 260 gram snake will need 26-34 grams of prey which will be rat pups to wean rats. Normally, the 10% prey will be about the same thickness as the snake and the 15% prey may leave a little bump...

Gotta love he wants rats, cause some want mice and no rats! He looks like a great little guy, keep up on the feeding and fatten him up, he looks great after that meal, no worries about it being to big or anything.
