    Haven't done that before, but i don't see anything wrong with it since the probe is on top of the pad. Also that looks like a Ultratherm heat pad, which are the best in my opinion. Even plugged into the wall they really don't get all that hot, my 8"x11" only gets 108 plugged into the wall.

    Trouble is normally the right way to secure the probe I think. I was thinking using the same idea, but maybe putting a second sheet persplex on top of that with little parts grinded out to fit the probe and thermometer underneath that (I hope it makes sense?)

    Just attaching the probe / thermometer near the heatmat seems to be a pain
