    Black and Red Hatchlings
I am interested in getting a Red Blood and/or a Black Blood hatchling. I want the darkest red and/or the blackest black adult possible. I was wondering if there were any qualities that could indicate to how dark it will be as an adult. If you have pictures of any hatchlings you have raised into adult hood, that would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!

The darkest/blackest adults will come from a baby that has a black head..Many of the chrome/gray heads will also become very dark/black adults..Babies with cream/tan/brown heads are not as likely to be as dark/black..As far as reds go you'll want to see the parent stock for the best prediction.."IF" temperment is of any concern I would lean twords the black/curtus..I would also consider a borneo, but then I'm a borneo/brietaholic, LOL..Unlike the 2 you mentioned you can find 6 or more colors in a nice borneo..:D

Temperament is not really a concern. From what I've researched it seems that bloods got a bad rep as being nasty from when they were first all imports that survived the skin trade, and of course, were all WC. From browsing around the forum it seems like people who are experienced with bloods don't have too many issues with them being feisty. Unlike the people who get one blood to add to their collection of Balls and colubrids, get scared of their reputation, never handled them, and then are left with a snake that isn't used to human interaction.

I may be wrong, but that's just generally how it seems to me.

I'm not too interested in having lots of colors in my blood, I really want a extremely dark black or red. There's a great example of exactly what I want in the Post your pics of your bloods/short tails sometime after 2kdime's post. It has both snakes in one photo.

    Thanks for your input!

Tim hit the nail on the head. Find the darkest baby you can with a dark head and he'll probably color up nicely for you (black, that is). You should definitely check out the parents as well.
