Reptile Basics rack owners- question

I recently got my 32 qt iris sweaterbox rack (belly heat) and I just want to know what temp do you set your thermostat to achieve 92 deg F in the hot spot?

I have a herpstat ND and the probe on the flexwatt tape and to get 92 deg in the hot spot i need to set up my herpstat to 105. I use a temp gun to check the temp and I already ran the thermostat and tape for 2 days. Is this normal or do you think there's something wrong with the tape? There's only one level at 92 deg, the other 3 levels are at 86, 84 and 88. The room temp is 80-82 deg.

It's the weekend and I can't call Rich about it, I'll call him on Monday.

I have a couple PVC CB-70 racks stacked 8 high which are basically identical to RBI's racks. I have my Herpstat set to 93.5 degrees on the 5th (from the top) shelf and my temperatures read 93-97 degrees. The room is about 70-75 degrees.

Only one tub gets up to 97 degrees. Don't know how, but she seems fine with that temperature right now.

Ive always had my hot spots hotter then what my Herpstat is set to. Why? I don't know. You'd think it'd be cooler but it's not (for me anyway).

I am still trying to fiddle with it but I never seem to get it perfect. It's either too cool or too warm. :rolleyes:

My stats are set around 99 to achieve 90 to about 93 but my house stays around 72 in the summer. As it gets cooler and the heat comes on I have to readjust the stats down to around 95 to achieve the same temps. Each bin will vary a bit as far as temps. One thing you can do for example if you have one bin running a lil to hot compared to the others is create a few more holes in the tub. Another thing is if you use papertowels as substrate you can a couple layers.

The iris tubs don't lay on top of the tape, there is a gap in between that's why you really have to up your thermostat in order to get 90's in the hotspot. I guess the tape is a 3 inch 6 watt flexwatt. Maybe I should change the tape to a 3 inch 10 watts or it's too much?

I use 2 strips of 4" flexwatt.
