    Steady Ambient Temps.
    Heyyya

I am shooting for 80 as my ambient air temps in my Blood's tub. Right now my temps are fluctuating because of using a lamp dimmer, so they go in between 78.5-81. I am getting a thermostat today in the mail.

Now, this is Alaska, and it's decently cold in my room, low 70's, but can get to be 75-77. I have two small heat pads laying around from past critters and I was planning on setting both of them to a desired temp, either 82 or 83?, whichever heats up the tub to 80 and putting them on opposite sides of his tub to keep his ambient steady. I've had a lot of experiences with snakes, but this is my first that prefers solid ambient temps and no hot spot as a hatchling. Do you think this would work?:gj:

    Thanks!

Getting an ambient temp of 80F will be pretty hard if your room is around 70F. The floor temp may be good, but the air temp probably won't be as high as it should.

My room is typically 75F+ and my tub's bottom is completely covered with UTH's. The tub floor is 82-83F but the air temps inside the tub are around 79F (measured by a digi thermometer and a heat gun). I've been thinking about attaching a UTH to the bottom of the tub's lid (so that it would be inside the tub) to raise the ambient temps a bit. If you're room is gonna stay around 70F you'll definitely need something extra to bump the temps up.

My blood hates any sort of belly heat, even if it's a hot spot of 78. I've got a piece of 11" flex watt on top of his tub, and 3" flex watt running around the sides. It's doing okay keeping the temps good.

I keep my snake room at an ambient 79 - 80 degrees, making it easier to get the tub temps up to the low 80's. I use an oil heater that works very well. Check out bloodpythons.com because they have a plethora of information on blood/STP/SSTP husbandry...
