Another dumb move by yours truly
I really need to get my head straight. Last night I was feeding snakes, and went into one of my asf tanks to pull a couple weaners for my hatchlings.

I went into the room today, low & behold I didn't close the lid on the 10g tank! all three adults gone babies also. grrrrr I can see the adults escaping, but there is no way the babies could have escaped, which means the mommies took them out lol.

I was going to set traps but figured I hunt them down for a day. I have found the male, 1 female & 3 babies so far. I still have to search the second closet in that room, I just can't remember if the last female is preggo, gosh I hope not.

Random question but do you keep 3 adults and 3 babies in a 10 gallon?
And I feel your pain. I forgot to lock the back latch on my 6 qt last week and my lesser some how pooped on the shelve and ended up 4 feet lower under my bed. Im glad she was BRIGHT yellow or it might have been hard. haha

Yes I usually have 1.3 breeders in 10g tanks, but they killed off a female a few weeks ago so 1.2 in tank with their babies until they're pulled.

I've only had mine escape once but they are kept in the closet rack system. Thankfully it was in the middle of the rack so they just stayed on top where the food is kept.

I always tripple check now that all tubs are closed completely.

The only reason I didn't do a rack system is because I was afraid of chew out escapees , I'll find the last one before the night is over, that or traps are set in the am

I am usually more diligent when in the snake room.

If it makes you feel any better I left the lid on my 75 gallon grow out tank cracked one night. My son came running up to me and said "Daddy I'm scared the rats are all over the floor"
Needless to say I stopped what I was doing and ran to check it out. I turned on the light and rats scattered like roaches. Luckily I had just counted that tank to fill an order. 89 out of 131 were out. My daughter and I caught all of them except 1 within the hour. The missing one was caught in a trap a couple of days later.
