Way to good to be true.

over 6 years of snake keeping and i never had a mite..after a few guys came over to look at a few snakes i have them now..a few questions
1 is it possible for someone to bring mites in my house without bringin in snakes/cages/hides ect...
2 anyone know a site i can order a can of PAM that has 2 day shipping.
3 any tips on how to control this without it going nuts only found them in 1 tub but im doing a deep cleaning on Friday now.

I have brought mites home before on me. It a pain to get rid off lol.. felt like nuking the room and start over. Good luck killing the little sobs.

Preventative procedures help. Once a month i spray my racks and around them, along with inside tubs to stop anything. Not one mite yet with this setup

Provent-A-Mite is a miracle worker, one of my balls came home with mites hiding in his eyes and heat pits...

I bought a can of provent-a-mite and after 1 treatment it eliminated every single mite...

I called the inventor/owner of the company and talked to him personally, he gave me all kinds of great advice about using it, it is very important to follow the directions exactly, it is toxic while wet, but after drying is completely harmless. The directions will explain better than I can, but I just wanted to tell you what an amazing product it is, nothing works better and is as safe for your snake!

Another good tip is to spray a rag with the stuff and while it is still wet wipe down the legs of your snakes stand so mites cant crawl down or up them and spread to other areas and snake enclosures! Apparently the mites can travel ridiculous distances within your home if given a chance to.

Good luck getting rid of all your mites! But with Provent-a-Mite it should be a snap!

Yeah, I had mites come in once on (I suspect) a bag of rodent feed or bedding. They can hitch rides on clothing--they don't live long, but they wander far, so anything near a snake with mites may have mites on it.
It's a good idea to keep a can of PAM on hand in case of an issue. I don't treat my bins as a matter of course, as that seems unecessary and expensive--I treat the floor and legs of my racks with flea spray now. It's not safe to use in areas the animals come in contact with, but works fine for places they won't be touching, and creates a formidable barrier to mites that might come in on supplies. The PAM I reserve for treating the bins of new animals in quarantine, and keep in case anything slips past the defenses.
