Cause Robin made me :) Bite story with pics

A few nights ago, while on the phone with Robin... I was bragging how my 15 yr old girl had never ONCE bitten me or anyone else for that matter. Dixie has always been very sweet and I've always been very careful... until last night.

After lovingly preparing her rat-ala-mode, I hit upon the bright idea that I should get some pics of her before feeding her. Being a tad rushed (extra mouths to feed before f/t cooled off) I forgot to wash my hands. When I reached in to wake her up and give her some mommy loving.. she tagged me. My whole ring finger was in her mouth, down her throat and she was coiled tight around my hand before I could even register the feeling of 1000 needles piercing my skin at once. :O I can't repeat the words that flew from my mouth as I stood there with my 4 ft + girl coiled 'round my bleeding hand.

Of course once she realized that she couldn't eat my hand... she eventually released me and went in search of her real food. LOL Which she then heartily ate.

We tried to get a pic of her on my hand but my daughter couldn't get my camera out of the car fast enough.

So Robin thought I should share my story... cuz well it IS funny. (To us anyway LOL)

lol been there and had that but mine was the index finger and she was trying to rip it off. the funny part was I only woke her up after cleaning the mice cage. Unlucky me she didn't want to let go she was hungry. It took 2 adults adn myself to get my finger back. thankfully I knew of the butter knives trick to get her off. I then gave her a medium rat alive aand watch her tak her angry out on it for the wasted effort on my hand
2 days later I pulled a tooth out of the finger, i knew it was ther but was hardto work out.

That Robin....geesh...bad influence....lol

Great story and I am glad it all turned out well. I am still in the "haven't been bit yet" club however my husband is not and of course it was about the same story as yours. Forgot to wash the hands!!

haha always a fun time getting your hand mistaken as food. Happens to the best of us lol. I personally don't think its scent. Well partly yes, but I think once they "know" their getting fed any kind of heat that crosses their path is getting jumped. I notice all my snakes get pretty rowdy when they know its coming, and if I put my hand in there I'm getting bit even if I smell like soap lol

The bite itself didn't hurt too much... I think it was more the shock of "OMG she freaking bit me!" 15 years and never a bite.. I brag on her and then I get tagged. Figures...lol

12 hours later... it's looks barely there and now it's even lighter. Not even a cool scar from it :P

Hey, I told you it was a badge of honor to post your first bite pictures, complete with blood on the forums, and how disappointing it is the next day when your battle scar fails to be that impressive! LOL

But you DID jinx yourself when you stated that Dixie had NEVER bitten anyone! LOL

Oh, and BTW, for the record - if I'd been there in person when that happened, I totally would have laughed! LOL
