    Nerissa's weird nose...
I've had my adult female Nerissa for about a year, and she's had a nose "abnormality" since she arrived... the seller & I are pretty sure it happened en route, since she was normal when he shipped her off (and I've seen photos to prove it). What likely happened is she started to shed, and was rubbing her nose against the bag/box all night - she shed the night she arrived, and it just looks like a rubbing-type of injury. I thought this would go away in another shed or two, but a year later she still has this weird raw/pink nose.

I guess it's just permanent scarring at this point, so I'm not too concerned about that... lately I've noticed a change, however, where the top of her nose is slightly more swollen & bulbous. Do you think I need to have it checked out, or is this something that can't be fixed? And what do you think about the sudden swelling? It's not majorly different from before, but enough that it made me take notice. Here are some photos:

See the bump above her nostrils? Most BPs are actually "concave" at that spot...

I think I saw a video on Youtube where a guy's snake had a similar amount of swelling on its' head and it was a rubbing injury the snake caused itself. It got very infected and swelled up to a bigger size quickly, so he gave the snake some antibiotics and it got better.
The swelling, I would think, isn't good if she hasn't had it before. :(
Could she have injured herself? :tears:

    :O
I thought it was, but I didn't wanna look like an idiot if I was wrong! ;)
It was a fantastic video that applies to not only veterinarian care but depending on the situation, also general nursing.
    Big thumbs up. :gj:

Honestly, I'm not sure how much (if at all) it's swollen... she's had some "bumpiness" since I got her, but it just looked different recently. Guess I'll keep an eye on it, and call my vet if I notice any more swelling or oddities.

The rubbing on the front looks like an injury. The lump on the top of her snout, I'm not sure--I have a female with that exact same lump, and she has had it for years. It doesn't appear to be any sort of a problem.

I would have a vet check the injury on the front of the snout, just in case.
