    Got some ASFs now! :D
Cute little buggers, but pretty jumpy, and a male that I didn't buy would close his eyes and just CHOMP DOWN on whatever was in front of him. xD

Whee-heeee! Except for that one I didn't buy they're not bitey; they just jump anywhere away from your hand. xD

Hopefully the 90qt tub with 1.4 will do okay w/ all females producing. The store had them for a week before I got them, so I could have babies in 2-3 weeks if they're pregnant (likely; the females seem a bit plump).

These guys are also pretty small and young; I'm certain they're no more than about 6 weeks. Need to ask the store since I forgot (also forgot with the norway rats).

Congrats, but they look a little young yet to breed.

I was really thinking that earlier when I was watching one nom on some free hay I got. Doesn't bother me too much, though. I've still got the norways and frozen reserves.

Compared to a large Norway/domestic rat, how big are good sized breeding ASFs? The stickied size chart would also work.

6 weeks old? Theyll breed soon, just form your trios and leave em alone.

Btw...ASFs are nice and cool until theres a litter on deck, then you need to watch your fingers.

I love soft furs but they grow and mature slowly. It can take up to 3-4 months before females take to breeding too. I have a 1.3 setup and 1 female had a litter last month, another female dropped a litter this month with the 1st female, and im still waiting for the other to do so. Once they do start, they keep dropping them roughly every 20-25 days. Ive only had mine since July and ive got 12 juveniles, and 18 babies that will be weaned this week or next. And 2 more litters on the way. I keep them in large sterilite containers and they are neat to watch interact with one another. One piece of advice, dont put a wheel in with them. They destroy it with poop and if you take it away, they go absolutely nuts. Mine would jump off everything in the cage trying to get out till i put it back in.

They are snappy like things. Mine were great up until they had a litter and then it was open season on my fingers. My babies are just at the hopper age now and even they are now biting. These guys breed like crazy. My female that just had babies is already plump again. Good luck with them.
