Switching live to F/T question

Hi ive just aquired an 18 month old bp male that ive been told has been eating both live and f/t. Im trying to feed f/t only. He hasnt taken on his first 2 feeding dates. Should i give him a live one or would that make him less likely to take f/t next time. or just keep offering f/t till he eats it. he tagged it 3 times but quickly released on the 2nd attempt.

Does he have a hide? Did he have one before?

Is he going into shed?

How is the temperature in his cage?

It may not be a huge factor but, How were the f/t meals presented to him,,,, by the tail, tongues?

You may be thinking the right thing by waiting a few more days before you offer him food,,, I had a similar situation with an adult male that fed on f/t and when I got him he stopped eating. I offered him live, f/t, pre-killed but he did not take a meal for 9 months until one night that I placed a pre-killed rat in his cage like many attempts before and he finally ate... Good luck!

I have found the key to getting them to take the F/T is pre-scenting the room. The best way by far that I have experimented with is warming the prey up next to the cage with a hair dryer. 30 seconds per side. It drives my snakes crazy. I actually have to be careful as they are jumping out of the cage when I open it to get after the prey........

No, feeding live won't make him less likely to take FT. The most important thing is to get him eating, and then worry about what he's eating later.
