How do I DEcrease humidity?

I have recently (this past weekend) moved all of my BPs to tubs (some 6 qt, some 18 qt, and one 26qt based on BP size). In my former display tank setup, I had to fight to keep the humidity over 40%. Now that I have them in bins, the humidity is through the roof! I put lots of holes in the sides of the bins. I'm using 3" flexwatt for heating the one end and I have a water dish in the tub as well as some Aspen for substrate.

Yesterday when I checked the humidity in one of the 18qt tubs it was 90% and I could see condensation forming inside. I added holes to the lids last night hoping that would help and now the humidity is down to 87%. In the right direction but not good enough. I'm trying to get it down to 50-60%.

Any ideas on how to DEcrease humidity? The room outside the bins is at about 45%.

More holes? Would a fan help? I'm getting frustrated. :taz:

More holes, smaller water dish, paper towels or newspaper for substrate instead of the aspen...

I wouldn't worry about it. It's a new setup so it might mellow out with the humidity after a while. Just clean off the condesation if it gets bad. If it doesn't eventually even out then I'd add holes. At least sheds shud be good...:)

Too high of a humidity could cause an RI though, couldn't it? I don't know from experience, just thought I have read that.

More holes, it's OK to have too many holes, you can cover them.

Can also be caused by too low humidity...I'd clean it and give it more time before I went bothering to put more holes in it...

Probably not, low humidity and cold temps are more likely to.
I don't put holes in the top because the heat escapes there too much.
Holes on the sides to release humidity, add a few holes a day till it settles in at 60-65 percent and your set.

This will probably take care of your problem, plain rolled paper is my favorite substrate. If your humidity is still high, take a look at how your room is ventilated. A fan does help as long as your not just re-circulating humid air.

From what most breeders and experienced keepers have told me, high humidity is perfectly fine as long as its not wet. RI's come from low humidity and low temps as stated above. I read some posts where some breeders humidity get up to 75% and they are fine. I'd rather have a dry tub with high humidity then low.
