Two New Dinosaurs Species Discovered

They look incredible! Btw, did anyone here about Triceratops? Turns out they never existed, they were an infant form of Torosaurus.

Any who, I think scientists and scavengers and what not are so excited to find and announce items of value that sometimes they jump the gun. XD Which isn't their fault, in my book, I think it's the fear of funding cuts. -.-
But nice link, and I hope they find out more stuff about them and other dinosaurs in general.
Fascinating era, that was, especially since according to certain religions people were alive at the same time...LOL...XD

great find!!! i must have missed the one where they downgraded triceratops as a species. any chance you could pass that one along??

as for scientist "jumping the gun", this finding probably actually happend over year ago and is just now coming out. for a new species to be named, it has to first be approved as a new species. you can't just say "this is a new species" it has to be verified and is usually then published in a scientific journal for others to refute the claims. it usually takes about 6 months (rare) to a year for something to hit a journal.

also remember that paleo-sciences are at a huge disadvantage!! these animals aren't exactly running around anymore and getting multiples of the same "species" is quite hard when dealing with just bones and sometimes there are not great characters to go by when dealing with just bones.

I was watching the discovery channel last week and saw that T-Rex now has feathers?? What we have known as this huge massive reptile could now just be considered a giant non flying bird. =(
And I also missed that tri-tops is not a real species....so sad. Pluto now this? haha

No it doesnt. Redefining how we see things is good, it's part of classification systems and a dead classification system means a world that isnt expanding scientifically.

And by no definition should they be considered a triceratops. Triceratops was simply one of the best/longest known species in said group. Calling a another species in said group a triceratops is like calling lions a type of leopard.

Pluto also was excluded from being a planet based on the altered definition of planets. It got bumped out due to new ways of thinking, it doesnt deserve anything and I strongly doubt its feelings were hurt by this decision.

I think its fascinating when they discover that two dinosaur species are the same. It shows us just how unique these animals use to be. There was a very similar arguement with T-rex and nano-rex, which has now be "declared" the infant form of T-rex. Keep in mind that the very few things we know about dinosaurs may or may not be true, most of the theories about them are only considered true until another creditable theory disproves it.

and yes there are new theories about the evolution of feathers. feathers have nothing to do with what makes a bird a bird. it is its body structure. even if t-rex had feathers, it would still be considered a dinosaur and not a large flightless bird. we are learning that even more dinos might have had feathers than previously thought. for example, the ever popular raptors are thought to have had feathers.

Oxy I was just kidding. I'm nearly a midget myself, so it's my little joke with Pluto that we "understand" each other...XD XD XD
And hey--did you ASK Pluto if it was offended? Maybe it's sending a midget sized asteroid our way, but with anthrax in it, as revenge XD
