Help...Need advice on how to properly set up a 40 gallon Tank
:rolleyes:Hello all...I just purchased a 40 gallon tank for my ever growing female juvinille BP Jazzmin..She is currently in a 20 gallon long tank now,but at an inch shy of 3 feet herself, shes getting a little cramped.equiptment i currently have is a 75 watt Zilla night bulb,100 watt zilla Day bulb.a med under the tank heater ,standard water dish, aspen substrate, and asorted climbing driftwood.so heres my question,of all the things i already have, what needs upgrading and what do i need to do to maintain all the right temps and humidity?as always thanks to all for any info and advice:D

I would say right off the bat that you are going to at least need to upgrade your UTH to a large one for it to be sufficient enough to provide the proper heating in a tank that size.

And cover at least 3 sides of the tank to make your girl feel more secure.

Just by reading the list, before you buy a tank I say buy a thermostat

also just to add, i'm not sure how your climate is where you are, but with a tank and using heat lamps your humidity will probably be pretty low. I would consider a tub or just getting rid of the heat lamps.

This might sound stupid but how do i maintain proper temps if i remove the heatlamps, still new at this, also i live in the boston area so we are going into fall, humidity in tank is a consistant 50 to 60 %.temps range from 84 to 92(basking spot) And night temps usuall stay around 80.I do ocasionally mist the tank when it drops below 50%

As long as the humidity is above 40% you should be fine. You want the ambient temp to stay around 80 and your UTH temp to be roughly 90-93, that way the snake can thermo-regulate itself. I use the indirect sunlight from outside as the only light source and it works well.
