First breeding season, first lock! (plus a butter conundrum)
    Hey guys,

I got browsing through some of the posts on here last night, and I simply couldn't wait any longer to introduce my males to their females. Here's what I've got going for my first season:

    pastel(butter?) x normal (x3)
    het pied x het pied

I introduced both males to their females last night. The pieds haven't shown any interest yet, but here's what I found with my pastel this morning. :D

And here's a closeup of the lock. I haven't ever done this firsthand, but from the pictures and comments I've seen on here, this sure looks like a good lock to me. What do you think?

Also, for those who were curious about the (butter?) part, when I bought these snakes, I purchased them from a breeder who was getting out of the business, and he claimed that this male is a pastel butter. He didn't have any papers, so I'm not sure if I believe him. In fact, I'm inclined not to, if only to keep my hopes from getting too high. The good thing is that I paid a decent price even if he's just a pastel. If he really does have butter in him, I underpaid by a significant margin.

I know the pics aren't great for showing the color, and subtler morph shades like butter can be awfully tricky to catch on camera, but does anybody think they know one way or the other? I figure I'll breed him out to my three girls and we'll see what comes out!

Thanks for the info. That's what I figured. Thought I'd get an opinion from somebody better informed than me. Sigh.

First off, CONGRATS! Keep it up and keep us posted.

Second, sorry but not a pastel butter. The Pastel and Butter genes clean each other up a lot, and the pattern is not quite right for butter to be in there. That in my opinion is just a pastel
