    My First Snake
After some research here & a visit a local reptile show, I decided to go for a male spider. He seems to be doing great. The pictures always look good to me until I upload them. Oh well, photography is not among my strengths.

Thanks for making this site a great info source!

Love the random pattern on him!!! If i were you, i would find a cool white fluorescent light to take pictures under. Warm lights and incandescent lights don't show the colors as brightly as they are in person. Any UVB light or daylight/natural light fluorescent would show the colors perfectly!

How much did you pick him up for? I remember when i sold my spider she was worth about $300, but then again she was like 320 grams and that was about a year ago. I know prices have gone down a lot, so i'm kind of curious what males are worth these days.

Thanks for the tip, I will try that. I took the photo on my desk in a home office hoping to get some natural sunlight in from the windows, but the skies would not cooperate. I will probably make the DIY photo tent posted here as well.

I think I got a good price. He was $125 at the Midwest Reptile Show in Indianapolis. He was 9 weeks old when I bought him. While I had no intentions of buying from a pet store, I did use their prices for comparison. I could get a normal from a big pet store for $80. I saw a couple as low as $60 at smaller pet stores, but they seemed to be in poor health. Not that there is anything wrong with a normal, but I could live with the price difference for a pattern that I really like.

I saw some real beauties at much higher price points, but I had to invest a couple hundred in my battle with temperatures & humidity. Mother nature puts up a real tough fight! ;)
