    sexing question
I found this really great snake at a pet shop and I'm really thinking of picking it up but I really want a female. I have a male and would like to have a female too. how would I be able to tell if it's a female ? the owners said a local breeder told them its a female. I asked if they had someone who knows how to probe or pop it but they don't know anything about it.

The only way you can be sure of it's sex is if you pop or probe it. If someone tells you that you can sex it by the length from the vent to the tip of the tail, it's not true.

You can learn from watching Youtube videos and practicing. That's how a good amount of people on this forum have learned.

I had a breeder teach me at a show. Keep in mind...larger snakes become more difficult to pop.

it depends what kind of pet shop ur talking about. the guy i go to has quality animals and probes and pops himself in front of you. im really picky when it comes to petstores so i think you should look online or at a show for ur female.

you need to take someone with you who can sex it, or get it somewhere else. The he said she said thing may have you ending up with 2 males. normal females even at breeding size, can be pickup at shows off of breeders that's replacing their normal females with morphs, and at a very reasonable price.
