What are you guys keeping your larger snakes in for husbandry? (6ft plus)
I am really considering a 6ft Dumerils boa (I already love my new one enough I want another) however, having a 50+ gallon tank in my apartment isn't exactly my idea of the right thing to keep it in.

What are you guys using? Tubs, if so how large, and do you have it on a rack? I'm considering building a small rack as I'm looking to expand my collection eventually. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

For my blood I use a tub Iris VE175 you can find them at walmart, target etc around christmas for about $25.

They are sold as christmas tree boxes.

    Dimensions: 20 7/8"W x 52 7/8"L x 14 1/16"H

If for tubs anything you can find thats 4-5Ft long you should be good. Caging 4x2 is plenty for 4-7 foot snake.

But with boas some like the space and 6x2 cage is nice for them. Custom built or bought.

I keep my Dumerals in a 55 gallon tank with screen lid. I have had in it for about a year now and he seems to like it. he is 6 1/2 long.

55 gallon tanks is not suitable for a 6ft boa considering its 4x1

Rule of thumb with boas is 1sq ft per foot of snake i would highly recommend you move to 4x2 cage meant for snakes.

I keep all my Boas in 4 X 2 X 2 Boaphiles. They love the tanks as much as I do and they hold heat and humidity very well. Plus there stackable

I just bought a 4 x 2 from Reptile Basics (Rich) for my new boa. Once my cage is ready, I will pick her up. I priced out Boaphile, but felt more comfortable with Rich from RBI. My new boa is 8 ft, as I understand...I can't wait to bring her home:D

I know this thread is about larger boxes and snakes but I was really looking at that nice boaphile box could I keep a baby/juvi in this with the divider and when he/she grows up remove it? seems like it would be nice to only have to buy one box and that one is super nice.

or is there another manufacturer that has smaller boxes with the fold down doors like that?

Larger species of snakes dont stress out with larger spaces. So yes you could take the cage downsize it till its big enough to utilize the full cage.

I tried to edit it to add "ball python" but couldn't due to the time limit.

    still okay?
