    Group size for 90qt/85L tub?
So I've decided to get some rats, and I even got rid of the mice, as they weren't breeding. Question is, so that I don't have to bother with getting a different tub, is how big can the group go in that size tub?

    Measuring it myself, the dimensions are: 34"L X 16"W X 13"H
I'm thinking, maybe 1.2 with babies or 1.4 without? I'll probably be breeding large rats.

You can breed 1.4 in there with no problems, but you will need room to grow the babies if you need to grow them out to large size. So, you will need more room anyway. My advice is to build a rack. You will need at least two more tubs to grow out your rats.

That answers my question. Though, as I have corns who will likely need pinkies and fuzzy rats, and everyone eats f/t, I probably won't need to keep any alive for too long.

With a similar sized tub, how many grow outs could I keep in there to get them to adult sized (probably 2-3 months of age) before culling without causing problems?

i use the same bins , and i usaully keep 1.4 ratio and when females are prego i take out the male . i let them raise them as a community , around 100 grams i start freezing them off. seems to work and saves tons of money! around here rats are 2.99 for medium, i usually get between 40 and 55 rats out of each bin ! so you do the math!!

I don't think I'll need that many unless the pet stores will buy them off from me or I post an add on CL and the news paper, or I find a few people to sell frozen to. Ha ha. Very awesome numbers though. :D

Here, frozen rats are 2.99 for a small and 4.99 for a medium. I kinda twitched at that. I think PetCo sells them for a bit less, but those are in bags so I can't see them and see the size.
