    Which Thermostat
I plan on buying a rack from retilesupply and I am stuck between 2 thermostat options. Everyone seems to use Helix but the guy from Boaphile recommended I use Ranco instead. Reason being is because he said when the Helix's fail, they fail turned on. While the Ranco's fail while theyre off. Making it safer to use. I would like some input form people who may have used both or people who care defend one of these thermostats. My snakes safety comes first.

I have a Helix and a Ranco. Dunno anything about whether they fail on or off, but I have had both for a few years now.

I use Rancos and the one thing I really like about them is that they automatically reset if there's a power outage. In the summer I can turn mine off for months at a time and I don't even need to reset anything when I plug them back in once the weather cools off.

My suggestion, if you're looking to save some money, is to look for them through HVAC suppliers rather than pet supply places. I got my Ranco ETC111000s for under $50 apiece from HVAC suppliers, and they're over $100 on some pet supply websites.
