Steam Punk - Anyone heard of it?
I was introduced to it this weekend at DragonCon in ATL. Never heard of it before. It seemed to be the predominate theme of the constumed patrons theere this year.

Totally! We have SteamCon here in Seattle :D I LOVE it! Clockwork and steam, it really reminds me of Miyazaki movies like Castle in the Sky and such. Don't have time/money to get into it, but I enjoy the costumes and tinkering with crafting things

Yep, have a couple friends heavy into it. I think it's really neat, and I've put together an outfit but I don't really "follow" the steampunk subculture, I just like the outfits.

I'm jealous you got to go to DragonCon, I've had to miss it the last few years.

I love steampunk! It's pretty much PURE awesome-sauce! I found out about it two years ago at a convention I go to every year. I have myself an all female crew, and already have put together my story for on how the crew met each other... well okay, I had a crew until half of them abandoned me for another captain, so guess who's out to get the crew..... -snarky evil grin appears on her face- But it's great! Best thing about it, you don't have to be from a "set" period of time! It's really great, I ended up going to a steampunk panel at an anime convention I once went to and they explained it wicked well on how steampunk works. Some costumes are really elaborate while others, mostly for men, it could be a simple pair of nice dress pants, simple button up shirt, and a "victorian" looking vest, add a top hat and cane, and you would be in the steampunk group.

Anyways, sorry for the rant, I'm just head over heels for steampunk. XD
