    My first python
I'm new here :D and I would like some help picking my first snake. I plan on breeding, I would like to get a morph to start with. I'm looking for a snake in the $50-150 price range I found a spider, a pastel, a mojave, Het/Orange Ghost, Het/Caramel, and a yellow belly out of these snakes what would be a good starter and breeding snake. Or any other suggestions :snake:

    thanks

Well, a few things to consider:

Are you planning on breeding casually or seriously? Recessive gene breeding, assuming you want to propagate the morph you have, will take multiple generations and far more work. The only way around this would be to buy more than one snake of a moprh/het.. A dom./co-dom. will allow for morphs to appear in the first generation, regardless of paired snake, also tending to cost less. However, recessive morphs will hold their value longer. Consider this when picking a dom./co-dom. or recessive morph.

Also, I would suggest buying a female to start. Getting a female of breeding age/size takes longer than that of a male.

Lastly, if you plan on keeping at least some of your offspring, consider which morphs are your favourite. :)

I plan on buying a pinstripe male in the upcoming next year, to pair with my mojave girl.

I'm not going to tell you what to get as your first ball python morph. Just pick your favorite, even if you have to save awhile to get it, I saved for three years to get the snakes that I have. Get your favorite, and breed for what you want, not what is most popular, or most commonly sold. Trust me, if you are breeding for everyone but yourself, you won't enjoy the hobby as much as if you were doing it for you.
