I'm really starting to hate boas...
So, my big female BCI finally shed and took a huge dump and she's motoring around her cage today so I figure that she's probably hungry.

So, I go into the rat room, grab a jumbo male that I am no longer using for breeding, smack his head against the rim of a garbage can, jiggle him in front of my boa and no response.

I lay the rat in the cage figuring she will eat it. No response.

I go back into the rat room and grab a live rat and toss it into the boa cage. No response.

This is why I don't breed boas anymore. Feeding them is such a friggin' pain.

I NEVER had this problem with burms.

You would think that an 8'+ boa would be a voracious feeder. I mean, she had to do a lot of eating to get to that size. WTF. lol.

I laughed when I saw that, I just pictured it in my mind. I also agree with Elise.m.

I like that so far I've had great luck with snakes and feeding. Even my pickiest neo BRB hasn't refused yet once he acclimated.. and of course my carpet python would attempt to eat a rabbit that weighs as much as she does, given the option.

She finally ate the rat...all rigor-mortised and cold laying in her cage.

Ha ha, my male piebald is like that sometimes too. He is just giving me problems now because it's getting close to his breeding time.

That's weird. All of my boas are voracious eaters. They never refuse meals.

Same here, although I've really cut back on how often I feed them since I don't have any plans of breeding them...

She hasn't ever refused a meal, its just a pain in the ace when it takes her three hours to eat half a dozen rats. She's really past the rat eating stage at her size, but I have lots of rats and I don't breed rabbits so that is what she eats LOL.

It's also always a pain when you're trying to put weight on an animal for breeding and she takes her sweet time eating. If she were a sunglow or a snow or something better it wouldn't be as bad, but when you're a normal you really need to eat better LOL.
