From reading the article, it was the DNR conservation officer that killed the snake. For once, the three idiot rednecks did the right thing. They contacted the DNR.

Sad that it died, but if it stayed in the area, it surely would have died anyway. Most likely from freezing to death.

The python is an invasive species and as such has no place in the wild. The "idiot" did everything right in this instance. It is a shame that the animal lost its life but the reality of the situation required it to happen.

After watching the 3 episodes of Python Hunters it became clear to me that the only way to protect our right to keep these animals is to erradicate the wild populations. When they caught a snake it was not relocated, it was destroyed. It is a sad part of the hobby when we have "idiot" owners releasing animals into the wild.

This isn't what anyone wants to hear, but we will NEVER eradicate the wild population.

Once people start to understand that it really isn't up to us as human beings to control mother nature we will all be better off.

For millions of years animals have been taking care of themselves. A natural balance is always reached in some way or fashion. The ecosystems where these pythons have been introduced will be changed, but they will not be destroyed. They will just be different.

I personally don't see the big deal. Are pythons really any more dangerous than alligators? People are taking this media "spark" and turning it into a wild fire.

you may be able to monitor the wild populations with more reasearch but we will never eradicate them.

We won't, but climate and weather might. We already saw one extreme everglades winter, and we're in for many more.
