Nope, though most of the time you will have trouble trying to pop adult females. Adult males pop a lot easier, and will tend to give sperm plugs before you see a pene.

No you can pop them at any age, babies tend to be very easy, adult have more control and can be slightly harder to pop.

So my 3 bp's are about 3 months old and i popped them for the 1st time tonight, just curious if i was sold the correct sex.. i watched ralph davis vids on how to pop.. so anyways the 2 females looked just like his females just a lumpy whiteness . but when i popped the male i didnt see any defined hemipeens.. his area looked more red in color but i didnt actually see them.. is it common in younger ones to not have fully developed hemipeens or should i press alil harder

try moving your back thumb back(more towards tail) a little bit

That's because you didn't do it right ;)
Takes practice and the best is to have someone shoeing you in person, it helps with the position of your fingers and pressure
