After spending a season as an inebriated spectator I strapped on skates for the first time and am training to be a roller derby ref with the montreal roller derby league.

They threw me into boot camp and I have been getting my butt whooped twice a week by the "New Skids on the Block"... and what can I say it is an absolute blast. :D

For never having skated (no inlines, no ice skates) I am doing really well. Did crossovers the second time I put on my skates. At the point of jumping, slicing, etc. already. I rarely fall but make up for when I do... nothing like barrel rolling into a wall. :)

This week we learned how to fall, next week I expect to just be thrown into walls at random.

The women in the vid are running the boot camp, about 80 women competing for 10 spots in the league, if I can come out of this knowing how to skate like a girl, then that will be the best... I mean, you've seen them skate right?

We went to the roller derby in asbury park nj saturday night. We love going. Fun time:)

I've gone to some in Raleigh, when they have them...
