    Columbian Brown Tail Boa?
    Alright so someone wants to sell a "Colombian Brown Tail Boa" for $75, tank included. I don't know the dimensions of the tank yet but, the snake is said to be about a year old, Female, 16"- 20" long, and is fed a mouse once a week. I haven't talked to the actual person selling it yet so that is all I know for now. My questions are;

    1. Is there such a thing as a Colombian Brown Tail? I haven't found anything about one so is he screwing the name up?
    2.Is it worth it? Assuming its a healthy snake
    (I know to check its health first but, like I said, haven't talked to the actual seller yet)

    Any insight/opinions is/are appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Bruce

    In my experience when people mess up the name of their animals like that they have no idea what they actually have. They have horrible husbandry and the snake is normally sick with RI or external/internal parasites.

    I have been offered "brown dragon chameleons" (bearded dragons dyed by their colored sand substrate), 3 boas "2 larger and 1 smaller and darker" (2 RTB's and 1 ball python all with mites, RI's and under fed), red tailed pythons ect...

    If you like keeping boas and you can keep it in quarantine for a long time then go for it. Personally I keep balls and it just isn't worth it for me to "rescue" boas. I have a buddy that likes boas and he has the room for them so I usually let him know about the animals and he picks them up. But he has gotten some animals in ROUGH shape.

    Check them out weigh the pros and cons and if you have the ability, time, space and money to deal with a new addition with an unknown past go for it.

    Thanks for the advice! I've never kept a boa before only Ball Pythons, so it would be a new experience for me. I guess I'll have to think about it a bit more, I'm assuming its a red tail so its going to get big. Time, space and money I do have but it may not be worth the trouble getting an animal from such an inexperienced person (messing the name up has got to be the lowest level of knowledge)
