difference between thermostats?
in a couple of days im going to be buying a thermostat for my enclosure. i have 1 female ball python and only one enclosure and its going to be like that untill i get back from basic traing and tech school. im leaving my snake with my sister till i get back and she is going to be taking care of my snake. i had my eye on two thermostats. there is one on big apple herp but its the on/off t-stat and a ranco from reptile basics. its only 20 dollars more and i know its worth the investment but i just wanted to know whats the difference between the prewired and the non-prewired?
Re: difference between thermostats?
Get the ranco if you can afford it, you won't be sorry.
Re: difference between thermostats?
the prewired picture shows it wired and it has two other things attatched to it and one is a power outlet strip, whats the other one besides the probe?

No. The Ranco and Johnson thermostats are designed for commercial and industrial heating and air conditioning applications. They don't come wired from the factory so that they can be custom wired into whatever application they are being used for, such as wall circuits, etc... The pre-wiring is done by RBI at their facility, which helps them sell more since most people don't know much about electrical wiring. If you get an un-wired thermostat then you will need to supply you own power cord and power strip, or however you choose to set it up... I want to think someone posted a tutorial on how to do it a long time ago. If I can find it I'll post the link...
Here you go...
